200920 Body weight calf raises

Use a barbell, two dumbbells or kettlebells and rise up on the balls of your feet, lower back down for one rep.
Hold a dumbbell or kettlebell in one or both hands. Rest the balls of your feet on the floor or a stair step or some other stable platform. Make sure that it will hold you up without tipping over and causing you to injure yourself.
Once in the position shown and vaguely described lower the heel of the active foot toward the ground. Get a good stretch. Now push back up on your toes and lift your body up without bending the knees. You should be feeling the resistance in the lower back part of your leg. Continue to go up and down for the number of repetitions you have decided to do.
Here is a short video of the exercise. Bear in mind you can do these almost anywhere, while doing the dishes, standing in line at the grocery store, waiting for your grandkids to finish brushing their teeth…
