Before heading to Costco or other stores that you frequent quite often, picking up your groceries. See if they have bonus cards, if so, sign up for them. They may be called loyalty cards; manufacturers sometimes offer discount coupons. You download these. onto your card. Another way of getting bargains is to use your e-mail to be notified of these special deals.
In our area of the country, you can bet on seeing many coupon flyers in the newspapers on Wednesdays.
In our area of the country, you can see many of these coupon Flyers in the newspapers on Wednesdays. If there’s something that catches your eye that you think you need to buy or that you must buy cut these coupons out and take them to the store. Some of the larger stores offer coupons off their website.
Once you are in the store, and if they have a coupon kiosk, check that out to see if any deals are being offered in the store. Another thing to look for is a handheld scanner, these generally offer specials depending on where you are in the store. For example, if you’re in the dairy aisle, you may get reduced prices for your milk.
Another option at some of the stores is to go to the kiosk and load the specials into your Store card. Each of these discounts will be applied when you check out.
Another option to save money when you’re in-store is to use the air brands instead of the more expensive popular brands. I know in our case we normally don’t notice the difference between the store’s brand and one of the popular higher priced ones.
According to Consumers Report, these store brands generally cost about 25% less than the big brands.
One of the most efficient ways of checking on the prices to see if they’re deals is by looking at the unit prices. Doing this and comparing different brands, sizes, and packaging is a simple and practical manner of determining which of the items gives you the most for your money.
At our favorite store, Costco, the products generally come in such big containers that we share them with our children. If you’re going to a normal store, sometimes the things you want to buy are cheaper if you buy them by the bag instead of individually.
Another way to save money is to look for your item above and below eye level. The reason is that the middle of the shelves is where most people look, and the manufacturers sometimes pay money to the stores to put their products in the middle.
While you’re waiting to check out, you’ll notice that there are items right close by that are just as tempting as the devil to buy, such as gum, candy, and sometimes sports drinks. Most frequently, these items are overpriced and you’re better off leaving them alone not only because of this increased price but also because they’re not good for your health to begin with.
Just wanted to check your receipt while you’re checking out. I watched my mother, who was ninety-nine when she died, continually checking out the receipt to make sure she wasn’t overcharged for anything. She did this for as long as I remember. And she wasn’t shy in pointing that error out to the clerk.
In some instances, the stores will give you that item free if you point out the error.
Try a few of these the next time you go to the store and see if you save money.
